Therapeutic Tutoring
Academic, organizational, and overall support for students in grades K through 11
There is no student, or person, who cannot grow to meet their potential. Each child deserves to embrace the learning process, feel positive as a student, and develop skills that will aid in academic, social and emotional success both in the present and throughout life
As a teacher for 24 years and a school-based mental health counselor, I have built an extensive toolbox for aiding students with various challenges in the classroom. I began as a primary grades classroom teacher and completed my Master’s degree in Education as a Consulting Teacher of Reading. I transitioned to working as a Learning Specialist with grades K-8. I supported students with specific learning, reading, ADHD, and executive function challenges with regard to initiation, shifting focus, utilizing working memory, emotional regulation, planning, time management, organization of materials, and self-monitoring progress and performance. I am an Orton-Gillingham Certified tutor and Executive Functioning coach. I have spent time working with children, families, neuropsychologists, and school personnel to meet each student's individual needs and make accommodations as needed. I also have an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, creating a therapeutic tutoring environment to help each child realize their potential with self-confidence and utilizing strengths to aid in areas of challenge.
